Hotels later adopted RFID technology to solve many of the problems associated with magstripe cards. RFID keycards use a small chip that communicates securely with the hotel lock.

RFID systems also improved hotel security. The technology uses encryption, authentication protocols, and secure data management to reduce the risk of unauthorized access.
